How Pontoon works

Pontoon is a layer on top of Pons V2: tokens launch on Pons, but creator fees are routed to Pontoon contracts that split them according to the creator's settings.

Fee flow

  1. Traders buy or sell on Pons V2 (the bonding curve before graduation, Uniswap V4 after).
  2. Pons V2 credits the creator fee (the creator tax of 1–10% that the creator picked at launch, plus 70% of the 1% curve fee) in ETH to that token's FeeVault, not to the creator's wallet.
  3. Anyone can call distribute(), which collects those fees from Pons, and earn a small incentive.
  4. The FeeVault takes the platform fee and sends it to the PlatformTreasury.
  5. The rest is split between the creator payout, buyback-and-burn, and holder rewards.
  6. The BuybackExecutor buys the token on its bonding curve and sends it to 0x…dEaD.
  7. HolderRewards distributes ETH to stakers using a reward-per-share model.

Quote pairs & buybacks

Launches are paired with ETH for now; USDG and tokenized-stock pairs (NVDA, AAPL, HOOD) come later. Buybacks buy the token on its Pons V2 bonding curve with the buyback ETH. A token graduates to a Uniswap V4 pool once its curve raises 4.2 ETH. Until V4 buybacks are supported, anyone can send a graduated token's buyback ETH to its stakers instead.

Permissions

  • Creator: queues config changes and claims payouts. Cannot withdraw buyback or reward funds.
  • Anyone: calls distribute() and buybacks, stakes, and claims.
  • Pontoon multisig: changes the platform fee within its cap, approves CTOs, and can trigger an emergency pause. Cannot touch funds in a FeeVault or HolderRewards.

Risks

  • The contracts have not been audited yet. Only use what you can afford to lose during testing.
  • The Pons V2 bonding-curve contracts are not verified on the explorer; Pontoon's integration was tested against them on a mainnet fork.
  • Buybacks can suffer slippage or sandwiching. minOut is mandatory and each execution is capped, but the risk does not go away.
  • Rewards only go to stakers. Unstaked tokens (including those in liquidity pools) earn no ETH.
  • Only ETH-paired launches are open for now. Stablecoin and tokenized-stock pairs come later.
  • An emergency pause only stops new launches and buybacks; claims are never locked.
